When I view The Ugly Duchess strictly as a Regency romance with a meet-cute –> courtship –> conflict and separation –> reconciliation –> happy ending arc I feel like something is missing. I mean, in the Disney version, monster or not, he gives the girl a library. A library, ladies and gentlemen, a library. The Ugly Duchess is part of the Fairy Tale series however all of the books are stand alone. Turns out, I didn't quite finish the book. I bought The Ugly Duchess back in August and thought I had finished the book.
